 ELA 11: World Literature

                     In this course, students will use a range of contemporary texts to explore issues of cultural identity and the relationship between authors and their societies. 

Students will develop their analytic thinking skills and critical writing skills while studying:

Night by Elie Weisel

The Power of One by Bryce Courtenay
A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini
Political Speeches and Rhetoric

Students will also develop reading skills through independent reading projects, which will require the students to read and analyze novels independently over the course of the semester.  

The course culminates in the 
Common Core English Regents and a final research paper.
